Hey we are proud to announce that we are starting to record the new album for the living legend Sammy Ayala. The album will be out this summer and we will put out a couple of 12" with remixes by Nickodemus, Quantic, Truth & Soul records, Local 12 beten others. We also will be doing a DVD about Sammy's life into Salsa and his experiences with his compadres Rafael Cortijo and Ismael Rivera. More info very soon. By now we are getting ready for the studio this Wednesday and planning a live show at Rumba around the 11 or 12. We let you know in the next couple of days.

In other news Turntables on the Hudson 6 is coming out in April and includes 2 cuts from Candela Recordings just got it and start listening tomorrow. This issue is all about remixes so they are using Brobombique and PR pa'gozar by Candela all stars remixed by Matty II Deep and Quantic & Nickodemus. More info soon.
Nickodemus and Dzine are here having fun in the sun and Little louis is coming soon and Anicee is coming also. So wait a couple of days for some new fresh news.

Hey we did it!!! we recorded an album in a week and did the live show at Rumba with special guests Pedraza & Sammy Ayala on vocals. It was just amazing we recorded the show and we are going to release it very soon. This will be a classic record. We played it last night at Candela and this client a big Latin music fan words was "Se jodio el Latin Jazz" really the music is very incredible ad now Rostarr will do the cover and is ready to print. More info soon.

Ok lets see how i can keep this blog the more updated I can. I'll try to post the progress with the project this week with Truthandsoulrecords. Also the progress with other projects. This last week i talked to Dzine about the show at the Baltic Museum in UK and a compilation for the show music from Dj Cam, Candela Recordings, Local 12 etc. Planning a party for the opening. Also talk to Vikter Duplaix about some projects and a visit to PR. I wanted him to come to sing maybe in this project a song or 2 ,but not possible he has 2 gigs this week the 3 and 8. Been back and forward with Os gemeos for the show here in April they are going to Cuba so we are trying to do the best trip for them. Is coming together.

Just wrote to Max Lawrence from Space 1026 in Philly to do a show here in PR this year. Also talking to Wanda Ortiz to do a mural here at Candela Weepa woman es la que hay. Talking to Peter Doroshenko to curating a show at the hotel this year. Also talk to Mikey from Bugz in the Attic to try to release Hecho en Casa this summer. received very good props from our friends Bobbito, Vikter and Garth Trinidad about the Candela releases thanks a lot. Los Hermanos Latinos are working on a Local 12 remix cant wait to hear that.

saw some goods stencils from Logan Hicks and Adam5100 jsut met adam at Candela Gallery on his last night in PR. This week also Craig from Krink will be here vacationing. Looks like we will have a few parties here he friend of Ro. Party is good i just had a week of. I am ready for another year. How did come leave your coments boring? Hey this next week from the 31 of January to the 8 of February we will be doing some recording sessions with the people from Truth and Soul records from Brooklyn. Is a collaboration with Candela musicians looking forward for this project that will be out on a limited edition vinyl and on cd. Rostarr will be here starting to work with a book of Candela coming out on November and to work on the cover of this project.
We have test pressings for Brobombique and local 12 ep 12" coming out in a few weeks. Oreja vs Plenafro is on the pressing plant as well as La gringa by the Candela All stars. Tru Thoughts is re-releasing Mi Swing es Tropical with a new mix by Quantic & Nickodemus. Latina Cafe is coming out in Paris and includes Mi Swing together with other things from PR like Roberto Roena, El Gran Combo, Elvis Crespo interesting combination we hope it sells a lot.

We are planning a party in Miami at the Pelican Hotel the 23 it will be like a family affair there, the best music a lot of Rum and a lot of special guests .

Planning a big party for April with Sao Paulo in San Juan at Museo de PR with Os Gemeos, Nina, Nunca, Flip Dj Nuts and more.

Starting to work with the Candela Hotel in Old San Juan. It will be a Hotel Gallery a lot of events at the new spot. Ok leave your coments or write to pabloruma@yahoo.com

So many news for this year. I will write down the most important ones.

This week is arriving Julian Lebron a dj/producer from Paris and Quantic. Next week is coming Nickodemus & Nappy G. We are starting a monthly with Rawfusionrec.com hopefully with Dj Scribe we have plans to bring some of the artist from this label so if you want to include it in your party and share costs get in touch. Also if you want a residency with your label or venue get in touch.

We are planning a few things for Miami this year the March 24 at Pelican Hotel in Ocean Drive.
Releases coming every month starting mid Jan with Brobombique Matthias Heilbronn with Candela All stars then Local 12 EP, Julieta by Oreja vs Plenafro, La Gringa by Matthias with Candela Allstars.

San Sebastian fest is coming the week of the 18 of January.

Rostarr is coming to work on the Candela Book to be release in November together with a big show at the Gallery and Basquiat at the MAPR. We are also working on a project with Truth and Soul records to do some live recordings with Candela All stars. Ro is working on his new book together with us.

Dzine is doing a show at the UK at the Baltic Museum www.balticmill.com check D site www.dzinechicago.com we are making some plans for that also.

We are starting a series of events with Candela Recordings thru Don Pablo, Bodega Chic, Candela, Rumba, 311 and Dragon Fly.

Hey finally i can post again i forgot my password and i just find out. First of all i want to thanks all the people that came to the fest. For me was the best fest so far. The first year i didn't have any big problem in the middle. The crew that came was amazing, the new people that came for the first time Jaymz Nylon, Annicee, Josh, Miles, Nathan,Caotain Planet & girlfriend Ernesto & Probe, Has and SBTG, the crew from Amsterdam can't wait to see the footsge and photos.Karen P and co.Diana. Bobbitos friends. That's what makes so special the candela fest the family gets bigger and bigger but slowly.
For me i like to remember the week as a whole thing as a special dream you know. Always a problem comes and wake me up and everything else gets more dificult. So that's why is good to keep it small so everyone have the time to meet and spend together. I think we have the right people coming year after year and i hope they can take their small vacations during October and come to San Juan and listen to what their friends been busy doing at their homes.
For me the more exciting of everything is how this year everyone is more interested in our latin music, i really think that the best latin music can come out of the people that were here at the festival and that is more than any dream come true. Life is like that and thats why i can't tell what is my goal because i am having fun and learning from diferent heads around the world and what else can i ask. The world gets smaller and smaller and there are so much good latin music unexplore that i am sure there is no way you can't find more records at one afternoon at any place in the world ahh Quantic & Busquelo i know how it feels when you get a new good record and thats priceless. Thanks again to all of you and i hope we can keep going strong.

Moving to try to do a Candela fest at Miami this year why look for diferent spots let's do one and make it tight. Anyone with a contact let me know to start talking. Pablo

Candela Art & Music fest 4

Candela fest is an opportunity to have a nice vacation in Puerto Rico and at the same time meet with good friends and our favourites djs/producers once a year in our home Old San Juan. After been distributing, doing music, bringing djs, releasing music and going to partys everywhere i notice that i always meet with the same friends and look for the same music shows etc. So i decided to do the festival with the best djs artist out there.
You are going to see a lot of names that came for the last 4 years and that is because that's the way we want it. If some djs are not coming back this year is because probably is busy doing other stuff and we respect that, but we have our regulars that have it in their schedules as a standard and i really apreciate that. So anyway this is all about growing up the family.
If you don't recognize any name in this list probably you're not going to like this festival, but if you know some names , probably your going to make everything is possible to come.
I don't think you'll not find in the same decks Rich Medina, Garth Trinidad, Bobbito, Matthias heilbroon, Nickodemus, Karl Injex,Quantic, tyler Askew, Language all of them playing for 200 people and sometimes playing back to back there with no pressure of any kind,and spinning for their buddies. Uhhhh

Roberto Roena and the Apollo Sound one of the most incredible salsa band ever. Quantic went last time to see them and he just simply said this is the best band i ever seen. This is a serious legend best Bongocero ever and the best salsa dancer Roberto El gran Bailarin

Hey whats up long time, sorry too busy here remodelling Rumba, opening a new restaurant Bodega Chic, new show at the Gallery "Simple Pleasures" with Dzine and Ruby Osorio and the biggest event Suncom Art Nites at the Museo de Puerto Rico. For this one we are bringing Dzine, Doze, Jose Parla, Chris Mendoza, Skwerm, Rostarr and Chemi Rosado to do a live painting ijn diferent structures. We will have a 12" Dish to paint, a Casita, some Miami Windows, a projection to paitn over it and a Half Pipe where Chemi will create a painting while he and other skaters run. In music we will have Si*Se performing live and Nickodemus and Local 12 on the Decks. Vj demencia will be doing the visuals. The party will be inside and outside of the museum and the money will go to buy the painting "Beautifull Otherness" from Dzine. Wednesday we will have a pre-party at Candela and Thursday an after party. Friday we have the oficial opening of Bodega Chic at 6pm. Our friend Joe Clausell open a new club in NY we heard he started his own party there. The club is called Love . Also our friend Dennis Perez is starting his night on the 27 of May at Love. He just move to NYC from Philly but he still keeps his Afrorrican Vybes night there and in Washington with his partner Rich Medina.
Our partner Nickodemus is finishing his solo album ,can't wait to listen to it, out in Wonder Wheel Recordings.
Our friends from Emunity records put out a cd called Paxport with music from Peru, Brazil, Japan, Minneapolis, NYC, and of course PR. Very good music, packaging and artwork.

Our resident dj Max just came back from NYC , he did a small tour. Special thanks to Erica Deepspace NYC and Francois K for inviting him on Monday. Nat for the Bembe gig on thursday and Nick and Mariano for The Turntables on the Hudson on Friday. Thanks also to all the headz that showed up to support, we really apreciate always the NYC respects.

Congratulations to the Rude Movements posse for their first anniversary, they brought Benji b from the bbc London last Tuesday to celebrate .

May 1 we will be opening a new restaurant the Name will be "Bodega Chic de Puerto Rico" the concept is like PR in the 50's mix with contemporary stuff latin music from the 50's and 60's with the new stuff that we like.
May first we'll open oficially the kitchen in Candela we finish the kitchen and the place is ready to go.
May 21 We have the release party of the new Putumayo cd "North African Grooves", they will be travelling here with their dj. Opening 8-9 open bar and cannapes free cds also.

May 26 At the Gallery Dzine and Ruby Osorio opening at 7 pm.

In June we are planning to release the 12" from Quantic and Nickodemus featuring Tempo Alomar "Ritmo Tropical" out on Candela Recordings.

A big show also on June at The Museo de Puerto Rico with live painting by Dzine, Doze Green, Kenji Hirata, Chris Mendoza, Rosstar, WK live music by Si*Se on the decks Local 12 and Nickodemus . We are waiting for other artists to confirm so prepare for this one. People in NYC that wants to come to any of this feel free to ask whatever you need. Pablo
